Gary Rowett has his say on Millwall’s controversial equaliser and what’s frustrating him.
Gary Rowett believes that the officials had a tough decision to make regarding Millwall’s equalising goal on Wednesday night.
Jon Dadi-Bodvarsson volleyed home Millwall’s equalising goal. There is no doubting that the Iceland international was in an offside position but the question is whether or not the ball came off a Fulham or Millwall player before it found it’s way through to Bodvarsson.
Rowett said “There was a little bit of controversy around it but it was really difficult. The linesman didn’t flag straightaway. I’ve watched it three times or four times and you cannot tell who the touch came off. It’s a difficult one for the officials but I’m sure Scotty will be disappointed [a free-kick] wasn’t given, and I understand that. I’m not sure which way the officials go with it if they’re not sure.
Millwall had to come from behind to earn their point after conceding less than three minutes into the game. The Lions defence failed to react quick enough to a second ball which was picked up by Joe Bryan who crossed for Aleksandar Mitrovic who edged an effort past Bartosz Bialkowski. Rowett admitted that he is not happy with the fact Millwall have been conceding soft goals of late. “First half we started really poorly, we’ve got into a little habit recently of conceding soft goals, and I don’t like that habit.”
