Former Millwall striker Steve Morison appointed Bluebirds boss until the end of the season
Cardiff City have appointed Steve Morison as the their new manager until the end of the season.
The former Millwall striker who ranks third in the club’s record goal-scorers chart with 92 goals has been in caretaker charge since Mick McCarthy was sacked by the club after a 2-0 defeat to Middlesbrough, an eighth consecutive defeat.
Morison was not believed to be in the running for the full time job when appointed on a temporary basis but has impressed the board with the way he has conducted himself and the reaction that he has got from the playing squad.
His first game in caretaker charge was a 3-3 draw at Stoke, a game in which the Bluebirds found themselves 3-0 down with just 24 minutes left.
Speaking about the appointment Cardiff owner Vincent Tan told the club’s website “I have been encouraged by the team’s improved performances over the past three games, with the adoption of a more attractive and progressive style of football.
“What’s more, I think that the excellent work done by Steve and Tom at U23 level this season puts them in the very best position to help develop a talented crop of young players emerging at senior level.
The deal runs until the end of the season when the situation will once again be reviewed.
