Charlton boss gives transfer update
Lee Bowyer said a transfer target that the club were trying to get over the line would have started tonight’s game at Peterborough.
Speaking after Charlton’s 2-1 defeat at Peterborough on Tuesday night Bowyer said “I was hoping we’d have got someone in for tonight’s game but we didn’t quite move quick enough on that. I hope we’ll bring at least one person in before the weekend.
“He would have started. He would have made us stronger. He would have again made us better. That’s frustrating for me. But I have to keep trying to get the best out of the hand I’m dealt.
The Charlton boss admitted that his squad needs strengthening.
He said “I can tell we need to strengthen up top. Liam is our only real out and out winger we have. He’s going to need some help. We could do with real box-to-box who scores goals.
The Charlton boss also confirmed that the club have made two bids for Exeter striker Joel Randell , but admitted the fee Exeter want could be a stumbling block with the St James’ Park club wanting around £1 million.
“I like him. I think he’s a good player. I think that’s a lot for someone who has only played 14, or 16, League Two games.”
